After a long exhausting night for most of us that watched the election our minds need a distraction. Since it is Oppo there’s no better way than Craigslist hunt.
I’m looking for a car that I can get for $1000 or less that you feel will last me at least til March without any backbreaking issues.
Here’s the link to my local area:

If there’s no steering slop, fix the door handle and hinge, and you’re mint.

I vote for the best Jeep XJ or ZJ you can find. They’re dead reliable and stupid simple and cheap to fix if something does break. I’ve had one of each for $500 a piece and they rocked. I drove the ZJ for two years! Any time a little issue arose (not too often), the fix was always right there on the Jeep forums. I can not recommend these things highly enough.

Definitely a good $1k car if the rust is at least driveable for the season. Plus side is it is already rusty so taking it on all sorts of winter adventures would be fun. Nice set of snow tires and that would be a solid winter car (heat works quite well on colder days)

Okay I have done a quick search. I made it manual only because screw cheapo automatics! Here were some stuff that seemed remotely interesting and might not be complete dumpster fires.
‘01 Hyundai Tiburon with Snow tires (has cooling issue):

‘00 Mazda Protege:

I don’t know my old trucks, but this would be fun if it runs somehow:

‘93 Nissan 300zx (definitely looks too good to be true, but would be fun):

Project Jeep Cherokee, what can go wrong?:

‘95 Chevy 1500 (could be decent but I doubt it):

I also saw a whole lot of true dumpster fires that you can browse through and of course there are a ton of automatic options but I didnt even think that was worth looking through.

I mean, there are MUCH better miatas for like $2k-$3k if he planned on keeping it and fighting the rust. But like I said, it really depends on how rusty it is. I have seen the exact same reaction from owners for a tiny speckle of rust on the fender and hole large enough to fit a fist through. It seems to be very subjective.
